Wedding trends change a lot. Case in point: My mother's bridesmaids wore lavender, off-the-shoulder gowns with matching floppy hats (aka things millennials wouldn't be caught dead in today). Sure, some gowns stand the test of time, but most embody the hemline, neckline, sleeve, embellishment, and accessory trends of the time (RIP, puffy '80s sleeves).
