Parents are Loving this Funny Mom’s Passive-Aggressive Lunch Bag Notes

This mom has a new kind of lunch note for her kids.

Getting your kids out the door and to school on time is no easy feat. Just ask Whitney Cicero, who has a 14-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son. The mom and blogger knows that getting teens moving in the morning can be hard, but a little humor helps.

That’s when Cicero, who blogs at The New Stepford, transformed the typical love notes some parents put in their kid’s lunch boxes into passive-aggressive notes that have parents everywhere LOLing.

From “Just pretend it’s Chipotle” to “I can’t wait until you can drive either,” what started as a way to make herself and her kids laugh, has become a viral sensation.

Cicero says it was her daughter who encouraged her to post pictures of the bags on Instagram after her friends at school wanted to see what hilarious note her mom had written each day.

Cicero says her kids laugh right along with her and she credits their sense of humor for this parenting win. "It's imperative to have humor with your kids," Cicero told TODAY Parents. "We joke about everything — sex, drugs, politics, their bodies — I don't want them to think anything is taboo. Humor is a great segue into having meaningful conversations and it helps break the tension of things that can be kind of awkward. And, if we don't have a sense of humor about parenting, we will literally lose our minds."

So the next time you’re whipping up a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to toss into your kid’s lunch, maybe you’ll be inspired to write a new kind of note, especially if you get an eye roll before 7 AM.
