Being a new mom is wonderful but can also be exhausting and overwhelming. While we might imagine those early days of motherhood being filled with snuggles and naps for baby and mom, former reality alum, Whitney Port shares a bit of her reality in a video and it has a lot of moms saying "Yes, girl!"

In a vlog titled "I Love My Baby, But... I Haven't Loved Breastfeeding That Much," Port opened up about her struggles with nursing. In the description of the video Port wrote "I'm not obsessed with breastfeeding. There. I said it. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the fact that my baby is getting all the amazing nutrients from my milk and that I am literally giving him life, but it has been quite the challenge. A challenge I didn't feel prepared for at all."

Port and her husband, Tim Rosenman, welcomed their baby boy Sonny in late July, and in her vidoe she discusses how breastfeeding was going well at the hospital, but once she got home. It was a whole different story. "I thought I was doing really well and the nurses there said that the latch was good, and I was really surprised," she says. "But after about 24 to 48 hours of doing it, it just started to get so incredibly painful. And we came home, and I just hit a breaking point and said, 'I can't do this.' It feels like someone is slicing my nipples with glass."

Port tearfully discusses the pressure she is putting on herself as well as the pressure she feels from other mothers to breastfeed and the guilt she feels for pumping and giving her son breastmilk in a bottle.

In the video, she talks about what her expectations of breastfeeding were originally and how that has changed since her baby arrived. "I think I'm just tired and I obviously want to breastfeed," she said. "I guess because that's what people say is the best bonding experience.

As a mom that remembers those early days of being so tired and emotional, I wanted to reach through the computer and hug her because being a new mom is difficult and breast feeding can be really hard. It's upsetting when your best laid plans for motherhood don't work out. However, what is best for your baby is that they are happy and healthy and that their mom is happy and healthy. So whatever that means for you and your baby, go with it and give yourself a break. We hope Whitney does the same.
